Domain Valuation Tools Only Suggest Values

When valuating hand registered domains, domain valuation tools offer suggestions only.

Domain Valuation Tools

When we hand register our web domains, we look into a few factors before actually registering them. To be brief, we do use the Estibot and GoDaddy domain valuation tools before we hand register a domain. However, that’s not the main factor in determining us registering a domain.

What they are offering is a tool and they suggest values for that specific domain. With that being said, it should be one of the many factors before you register that domain. However, it shouldn’t be the only factor in this decision for branding your website or adding it to your domain portfolio.

So how does Estibot and GoDaddy factor in what that domain name is valued at? Below we have it broken down for both so you can determine what one will work best for you to use.

Estibot Free Domain Appraisal

When factoring what your domain name is worth, Estibot takes a few things into consieration such as cost-per-click, keyword optimization, type in date, and the website’s previous sale price. Next, when you enter in a domain name and click on “Appraise” you are given some neat information. Some of these tidbits include keywords, comparable domains, analytics, traffic rank, and factors as to why the domain isn’t valuable.

However, you can’t just look up hundreds of possible domains each day for “free”. The free version allows up to two domains per day. To look up unlimited domains for appraisals, you need to become a member which can be purchased at three different amounts with the highest being $99.00 per month. Now you can cancel at anytime. However, unless you are a serious domain investor, you should begin at their entry price of $29.00 per month. So is it worth it? We can’t guarantee that since we aren’t members, and remember, they are still offering an estimate on that domain value. Remember, one person will value that domain higher or lower to another domain buyer.

GoDaddy Domain Appraisals

GoDaddy, per their website states that they “use a machine learning to accrately predict the value of a domain name.” When you read further, they mention that they focus on the precise wording of a domain. Considering this is a completely free service, you won’t get all of the added services like you do from Estibot. One feature we do like though is the comparable domains sold. First of all, if you are using this for your domain portfolio, you’ll want to compare it with a similar domain. At any rate, it’s still a free service, so it’s still a suggested value.

To conclude, this is what we could dig up and find about these two domain valuation tools. As noted above, take the information given by them as just a tool and don’t make your final decision based upon their declared values. Good luck, and let us know which domain valuation tool you prefer.
