Regrarding domain extensions sold year to year, meaning 2019 vs 2018, let’s take a look. It’s no surprise that the .com extension was by far the leader in total sales. In fact, the percentage increased by about 30%. Although there is always talk about a need to buy new extensions, the sales don’t agree.
If you don’t agree, just look at the domain extension sales from 2019. The total .com sales were over 92K, while the next most sold extension, a .net had just over 2,000. Quite simply, if a business is looking to brand themselves, it will usually be with a .com extension.
The graph below shows all of the extension sales from a 2018 to 2019 comparison. If we were to make a guess, the .IO will probably be 3rd when 2020 ends. With that being said, take a look and let us know what your thoughts are.
